Parliament Speaker Davit Usupashvili: Open to Communication with Business

Davit Usupashvili, the speaker of the parliament and a leader in the Georgian Dream coalition, told AmCham members he – and the parliament – would be “glad to receive advice from the business community.”

Mr. Usupashvili was speaking with members during the May 21 luncheon at Sheraton Metechi Palace hotel. During his presentation, Mr. Usupashvili also provided an overview of the laws and developments in the parliament over the past several months including efforts at cohabitation between the National Movement – the minority – and the Georgian Dream coalition.

He also took questions from members, including issues concerning plans for the parliament building and constitutional reform.

In addition to Mr. Usupashvili’s talk, Lasha Gogiberidze provided an overview of labor code draft currently under consideration in parliament. New members were also introduced, including Georgian American Alloys, Inc., David Tvildiani Medical University, Imperial Tobacco International Ltd Representative Office in Georgia, and Marilisi Jewelry House.
