AmCham’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) committee joined efforts with its member company Wissol Petroleum Georgia on April 20 to organize a symbolic marathon at Turtle Lake and to display solidarity with the city of Boston and its marathoners following a deadly explosion which killed three and injured more than 170.
U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Richard Norland also joined the runners who braved the rain and either ran, walked or crawled at the marathon.
Ambassador Norland thanked Georgians for their support stressing that what happened at the Boston marathon was a big tragedy that saddened everyone.
The event found huge support among Georgian companies which support environmental protection and healthy lifestyle. These companies included Media Palitra, Aversi, Sno, Tbilisi Marathon, etc.
Among the participants were managers and directors of large companies, as well as journalists and individuals.
The Boston Marathon is an annual marathon hosted by several cities in eastern Massachusetts. It is always held on Patriot’s Day, the third Monday of April. The Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annual marathon held since 1897.
